How much does a custom engagement ring cost?

Custom projects at DMND Ave start at $3,000. Most of the engagement rings we design land between $5,000 and $7,000.

Where your ring lands depends on a few choices: the diamond, the metal, and how detailed the setting is. Below, we explain how each one affects the price and how we design around the budget you bring to the first call.

What actually drives the cost

The diamond: size, shape, and quality

The center stone is often the biggest driver of price.

  • Size. Carat weight matters most. Price doesn't rise in a straight line with size, so a modest change in carat weight can change the quote noticeably.

  • Shape. Round, oval, radiant, emerald, pear: each shape is cut and priced differently. Some also look larger from above at the same carat weight, which helps when you're deciding where to spend.

  • Quality. Color, clarity, and cut grades all move the price. Some grade differences show up only on the grading report, not to the eye. We'll show you where an upgrade is visible and where it isn't, so you can decide what's worth it to you.

How diamond origin affects price

Lab-grown and natural diamonds of similar size and quality are generally priced differently. We'll explain the trade-offs and compare options so you can choose how to balance your spending between the center stone and the setting. See how lab-grown and natural diamonds compare.

Metal

Platinum and gold are priced differently, and a heavier or wider band uses more metal than a thin one. Metal is rarely the biggest cost, but it adds up, especially in designs with a lot of metalwork.

Setting details: pavé, hidden halos, and engraving

A simple solitaire is often a more straightforward build. Additional details require stones, craftsmanship, or both, which can affect the quote:

  • Pavé adds small diamonds along part or all of the band, with each stone individually set.

  • Engraving can add a personalized message, date, initials, or decorative detail, with cost depending on the style and complexity.

  • A hidden halo adds small diamonds along the gallery rail beneath the center stone, where they can be seen from the side.

We help you choose the setting details that complement your ring and your budget without adding features just for the sake of it.

How we work within your budget

Budget is part of your first conversation, not something saved for the end. During a free 30-minute video consultation, Alyssa discusses your ideas and a comfortable price range. Next, we send a proposal with a preliminary sketch and pricing for you to review. If you're ready to proceed, we take a 50% deposit. That's when your project begins: we open a group chat with you, and Alain starts sourcing diamond options. You approve your diamond and detailed 3D CAD design before production. If an option would take you beyond your budget, we'll explain the alternatives.

For every step from diamond approval to delivery, see how the custom process works.

Is custom more expensive than buying a finished ring?

Not necessarily. With custom, you pay for the specific diamond you chose, the metal, and the work your design needs, not for a design someone else picked for you. A clean solitaire and a detailed pavé design with a hidden halo are very different builds at any jeweler.

What custom gives you is control over where the money goes: the stone, the setting, or a balance of both. And you see the design in 3D before it's made.

Do I need an exact budget before the consultation?

No. A rough range you're comfortable with is enough to start. Alyssa uses it to guide your consultation and the proposal with a preliminary sketch. After you accept the proposal and pay the 50% deposit, Alain begins sourcing diamond options within that range.
