What you need to know: pear shaped diamonds
These are considered a brilliant cut, with lots of facets. Lots of brilliance and inclusions hide well behind those facets.
Pears are very flattering and elongating on the finger.
Because of their elongated shape, we want to watch out for the bow-tie effect, which is a darkening in the center of the stone where light is not reflecting well.
You can play with shape of the pear by switching up the ratio. 1.4-1.6 ratio is most common. 1.4 leans a little chubby, and 1.6 is slightly more elongated.
We recommend I color or better.
Pears are 20% less expensive than rounds.
